Preseason predictions are seeing the Detroit Lions as one of the top teams not just in the NFC, but in the entire NFL. They are predicted to win at least 10.5-games. They began this preseason with a lackluster, 34-7 loss at the hands of the Chargers on July 31, in the Hall of Fame game. Under their head coach, this is the team that tries during August contests. If you recall, a season ago they did the same thing in Week 1 of preseason action, losing to the New York Giants, 14-3, then winning and covering both games remaining in August, on the road at the Kansas City Chiefs, and at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is the team that's highly talented, and loaded with talent. They must get their very loyal fans excited. Atlanta isn't expected to be a real contender this season. They should be improved. However, I just don't see them jeopardizing any key players in their first outing in August. Take the Lions. Thank you. |

Tampa Bay Rays. Tampa Bay has the luxury of knowing they had got the better of Cleveland this season taking three in a row and five of six matchups in 2026. They also had a few extra days to rest and prepare for this series. While the Guardians are a good road team, going into Tropicana Field is one of the toughest things to do in the Major’s. Tampa Bay is very tough overall, particularly at home. They took New York down in three straight games with authority. They’re going to ride that momentum here with Rasmussen on the mound. The right-hander is 17-5 this season with a 2.55 ERA. Believe it or not, the team has won his last 14 starts in a row. At home on the campaign, he is 10-3 with a 2.62 ERA, and over his last three starts, he seems to be getting stronger, owning an undefeated record of 3-0 with a 0.46 ERA. With all respect to Griffin, the left-hander is a good pitcher. But the team has dropped three of his last six starts and he loses a little luster as he travels. He owns a road record of 8-4 with a 3.76 ERA. But has struggled as a visitor this season. All signs point to the Rays. Thank you. |

Milwaukee Brewers. It certainly can’t sit well with Milwaukee that they are at home following a series-opening victory and are an underdog here. They have played Los Angeles very well this season. They have taken three in a row and five of the eight overall meetings in 2026. With all respect to the Dodgers, I know a lot of sports bettors will come in on them today to bounce back and win Game 2. But looking at this Brewers team, they are a smart team, a well-managed team, and know they cannot allow L.A. back in this series. Yamamoto and Henderson are slated here. Both starters have done well against today’s opponent. Yes, the Dodgers right-hander has done very well on the road this season. But this is going to be a very loud, very crazy American Family Field. The Brewers right-hander has been superb this season, is red-hot right now, and is undefeated at home at 6-0 with a 1.84 ERA in 2026. Take the Milwaukee Brewers. Thank you. |

Buffalo Bills. Giving Buffalo points in this matchup I feel as a gift. Following three consecutive wins and covers, the Bills fell last week at home to their rival, the Patriots, 29-26. They will bounce back this week and make a statement, especially to this opponent. It is very possible. These two teams will meet each other come February in the Super Bowl. Having said that, this is only the second time Buffalo will be traveling this season. The first time they traveled was their season opener on September 13 as they took down the Houston Texans on the road, 36-31. Look for Josh Allen and James Cook to do what they’ve been doing, lighting up the scoreboard here. They lead an offense which is ranked second in scoring in the NFL, averaging over 31.8 PPG. It will be James Cook that will keep the Rams defense honest and allow Josh Allen to open up the passing game. Los Angeles is just 2-2 both SU and ATS this season. They are a solid team. It just seems they can’t get in sync. Yes, they own the second-ranked passing attack and the top-ranked pass defense. But their ground game leaves a bit to be desired as well as their run defense. I believe this game will be one on the ground with the better rushing attack by the visiting team here. After this game, neither one of these teams have a tough opponent on deck, so both should be focused here. Yes, I do believe Matthew Stafford will have some success here. I mean, the Buffalo defense is beatable in the air. However, Stafford and his offense are their own worst enemy committing eight turnovers and I believe the Bills “D” will come up big here and force some mistake. Take Buffalo. Thank you. |

Montreal Alouettes. Not only does Montreal win at 12-3 straight up this season. They also cover, going 11-4 against the number. They are undefeated at home and are looking for a little payback as the last time these two teams met back in November 2025 on the road, Saskatchewan took them down 25-17. Speaking of the Roughriders, they enter this matchup losing and failing to cover three straight.
