Preseason predictions are seeing the Detroit Lions as one of the top teams not just in the NFC, but in the entire NFL. They are predicted to win at least 10.5-games. They began this preseason with a lackluster, 34-7 loss at the hands of the Chargers on July 31, in the Hall of Fame game. Under their head coach, this is the team that tries during August contests. If you recall, a season ago they did the same thing in Week 1 of preseason action, losing to the New York Giants, 14-3, then winning and covering both games remaining in August, on the road at the Kansas City Chiefs, and at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is the team that's highly talented, and loaded with talent. They must get their very loyal fans excited. Atlanta isn't expected to be a real contender this season. They should be improved. However, I just don't see them jeopardizing any key players in their first outing in August. Take the Lions. Thank you. |

Vegas Golden Knights. NHL MM play. Game 56. 6:30 PM PST/9:30 PM EST. Game 2’s are usually tricky. The series-opener saw Vegas trailing through the first two periods before they exploded for three goals in the third period. I feel the Vegas Golden Knights will ride that momentum here into the second game of this series. This is the team that’s running red hot, winning four in a row, and eight of their last nine overall contests. This includes five straight at “The Fortress.” I think we can all agree, VGK is a bit stronger at home than they are when they travel. So, they want to make sure they are up two games to none before going to Utah. The Mammoth are a good team. But they lose a little luster when they travel, and coming into today’s matchup, they’ve dropped four of their last five overall, which does include both games played as a visitor during that span. I’m going to ride the momentum with the Vegas here. Thank you. |

Montreal Canadiens on the PUCKLINE +1.5. I had the Canadiens in Game 1 of this series on the puck line, and they won the game outright. These two teams match up very well, and momentum from the regular season, does play a big part of the postseason. Without question, Montreal has the momentum here. They enter this contest with confidence knowing they have taken three in a row against the Lightning. This is a team that has prevailed in 12 of their last 15 overall games, which does include seven victories over their last eight games played as a visitor. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay is definitely struggling, dropping two in a row, and five of their las seven outings. You cannot deny, nor ignore the way way these two teams are playing. I think the visitor can win the game outright. But just to err on the side of caution, take the Canadiens on the puck line. Thank you. |

Chicago Cubs. Top-Tier release. Game 906. 4:40 PM PST/7:40 PM EST. With Monday’s 5-1 victory over Philadelphia, Chicago has now taken three straight in this rivalry this season. Very quietly, the NL Central is the most competitive division in baseball. They are the only division possessing five teams with winning records. Eerily, only 2.0-games separate all five teams. The Cubs (2nd place) are in a three-way tie with the Pirates and Cardinals at 13-9. But they are one of the hottest teams in baseball, winning six in a row. This team is doing it with a combination of a surging lineup, and stellar pitching staff. As a matter of fact, during their six-game hot streak, they have outscored opponents by a combined 44-14. Three of those six victories came against the Phillies. Philadelphia is struggling, riding a six-game slide, in which they have been outscored by a combined 42-10. There offense ranks among the worst in baseball averaging just 3.45 RPG, while their pitching staff also ranks among the poorest in the league possessing a team ERA of 4.87. Jesus Luzardo and Shota Imanaga are scheduled here today. The team has lost three of Luzardo’s s four starts this season as the left-hander sports a 1-3 record with a whopping ERA of 7.94. The Chicago left-hander is 1-1 on the campaign with an anemic ERA of 2.46. With the way the Cubs bats are exploding along with their consistent pitching staff, I feel they get another victory.
